Sport Creative LUT Pack 3.0 - The Gridiron Edition

Introducing the Sport Creative LUT Pack 3.0 - The Gridiron Collection.

*example frames were shot for the CFL and this digital product does not represent or have any connection to the Canadian Football League itself*

This LUT pack has been developed specifically for colour grading American Football footage - each look bringing a different vibe and artistic colour grade to your videos

These have been created with football as the main subject - leaning towards at times a warmer look, but are versatile enough to be used in several different scenarios due to the variety of locations and environments they've been developed through.

These LUTs are suitable for a wide range of footage types (indoor, outdoor, overcast, sunny, night time)

Included are SIX .cube files:

  • REDZONE
    • A very punchy, vibrant look, with reds that POP off the screen along with balanced film-like skin tones.
  • PICK SIX
    • A warmer, less contrast heavy LUT with emphasis on lighter greens, oranges and yellows - this is great to use in outdoor environments, especially during game action happening golden hour.
  • WILDCAT
    • The most unique look in the pack, with muted greens, deep reds, and creamier yellows & oranges. Leans heavily into a Kodak style film look.

Each of these LUTs comes with a LOG & REC.709 version, depending the type of footage you're applying the LUT onto.

Specifically, the ones labeled LOG are to be primarily be used with LOG profiles (C-log, S-log, V-log). Will also work with flat picture profile such as HLG or Cinestyle, with some tweaking.

Any LUTs labeled REC.709 will work with a clip that has already been converted into a Rec.709 space AND gone through some colour correction.

Please keep in mind, LUTs are NOT a one stop fix for colour grading, they should be considerd a STARTING POINT for your grade - these were developed with different lighting situations and environments - and the look will definitely differ depending on how your video is exposed, white balanced and the bit-rate of your camera.

A few quick tips to ensure the best results:

- These won't always look proper as soon as you apply them depending on how your footage was shot - you will need to colour CORRECT as you use them - adjusting the highlights + shadows, changing contrast and saturation can really impact how your image comes out.

- Make sure you expose your video PROPERLY if you intend to use these, they are not going to fix a improperly exposed video, so you may have trouble if you end up being over or under exposed.

- If you find the LUT comes on a little too strong, use the intensity slider in your video editing program in order to fix that issue. Colour grading should be subtle!

- Make sure your white balance is as accurate as possible while shooting. If you find the footage comes out a little too warm or cold in post, make sure you adjust the colour temperature when colour grading to see better results. Tint can also be adjusted to find better results as well.
